ANNUAL, PERENNIAL, BIENNIAL?

 

ANNUAL

Annual plants that perform their entire life cycle from seed to flower.

Annual plants grow from seed all the way through to seed again within a single growing season. All roots, stems and leaves of the plant die annually. Only the dormant seed keeps the the plant re growing between one generation of the plant and the next.

 

PERENNIALS

Perennial plants that regrow for many growing seasons. Usually the top portion of the plant dies back each winter and regrows the following spring.

 

BIENNIALS

Biennials are plants which require two years to complete their life cycle. These plants have small amouts of growth with leaves near the surface in the first year and the n in the second year of growth will become mature size, flowering, seeding then dying at the end of its life cycle.

 

ANNUAL/PERENNIAL

Annual/Perennial - A plant can behave as an annual or a perennial depending on local climatic and geographic growing conditions. In southern areas, these plants grow much quicker than in the north due to the warmer weather and extended growing season.
