LOBELIA (CAMBRIDGE BLUE)
Lobelia Cambridge Blue is a vibrant annual plant which fills borders and potts very well, with many of these small plants it creates a sea of colour where ever they are in the garden.
Lobelia flowers are very small but plentiful and can encourage more growth for longer with dead heading the old flowers. Lobelia plants come in a wide range of colours with the blue and purple being the most common.
To sow these seeds just simply spread the seeds out thinly on the surface of multipurpose compost pre-watered then place in a warm light position for example a windowsill for best results.
cover tray with glass or polythene to keep humidity high, but remove when first seedlings appear. Germination should be visible from between 14 and 21 days. Transplant seeds in tiny clumps when big enough to handle about 5cm apart and continue to grow in cooler conditions to gradually accustome the plants to life outside. Avoid frost with these plants.
Once planted outside they thrive in full sun locations and part shade, keep watered daily when dry to keep them in best condition.
Lobelia is a native plant in tropical to warm temperate regions of the world.
