EASTER CACTUS

 

The Easter Cacti is a very decorative house plant with loads of segments making the leaves, this cacti is a very fast growing plant but perfect for you window sill drooping down as it gets bigger. There are no spikes or fur to contend with on this cacti making it perfect to have around children and pets.

Healthy Easter cactus should show signs of growth producing more leaves after blooming during the summer months, these should be red at first then turning a lovely dark green colour and feel firm to touch.

 

The bloom on this cacti happens around easter time through to the end of June and can come in many different colours red, white, yellow and so on.

 

Watering conditions for this plant are similar to most other succulents and cacti not requireing daily water, just once a week should be fine during summer months, during the winter keep frost free and in a warm location cutting watering back to once a month or when very dry should be fine. Place the Easter cacti in full to part shade sunlight for best results.

 

Propagation of this plant is by removal of a leaf segment simply by twisting it and leave to callous over for a couple of days to prevent rot, once calloused over place the base of the leaf in moist soil and roots should start to appear within 3-4 weeks.
