CORNFLOWER 'BLUE DIADEM'

 

These Cornflowers are an intense azure blue colour and are an annual flower that blooms from June-August. The seeds for this plant are widely available from garden centers.

Sowing the seeds should take place between the months of March and May, alternativly you can sow them in September/August for the plant to have an early summer bloom the following year but these plants must be kept at around 60F and free from cold/frosts to survive the winter.

The nectar from these flowers attract bees and butterflies to your garden, plant will grow to around 75cm in height and have a 30cm spread.

Cornflowers grow best in full sunlight positions and make sure to keep the plants well watered especially if they are tub grown, dead head the flowers throughout summer to prolong flowering.

The best temperature to grow these plants are between 60F-70F. The Cornflowers origin is Europe mainly Estonia before being grown worldwide.
