CONE FLOWER (ECHINACEA PURPUREA)
Echinacea purpurea is a meadow like plant and is an upright perennial with daisy-like flower-heads to 12cm across with light purple flower with brown central disk. Attracts butterflies and bees during the summer months. Flower colours available are: red, purple, white and pink. This plant multiplies readily, is easy to care for low maintainance.
Plant seeds in the spring 1-3feet apart in well drained soil and in full sun, Cone Flowers do tolerate light shade but full sun is prefered.
Water regularly during the summer but is resistant to dry periods, if plants are floppy after flowering, cut them to the ground, after 3-4 years divide your plant into clumps, remember to remove any dead flower heads to perlong flowering period.
