BEGONIA 'APRICOT SHADES'
Begonia 'Apricot Shades' is a strong and beautiful perennial flowering plant. Begonia 'Apricot Shades' have lovely double blooms in shades of apricot and lemon and will grow large and hang from your containers, or cover your bedding from July to October. These tuberous begonias will perform in most weather conditions, but best grown in sun or part shade.
The trailing habit of Begonia 'Apricot Shades' make them ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes and flower pouches for a really impressive display.
Begonia plants can be grown easily from seed and are widely common in many garden centers across the UK. These plants once big enough as plug plants can be planted straight into desired location but are best potted and grown on first in bright, frost-free conditions if they are to be displayed in baskets, window boxes, pots and beds.
Begonia plants can be transplanted into their final locations once they have increased in size. When all risk of frost has gone, grow begonia plants in outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days to harden off the plant, before placing them in their final positions.
Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from strong winds.
These plants like rich soils and soils kept moist for best flowering results and be sure to deadhead the old flowers on the plant to extend and increase flowering for the season.
As this plant is a perennial it can be dug up and kept in a frost free place over winter and placed back out after frosts to grow again, watering over winter should almost stop, but just keep mildly damp to prevent shriveling of the plant.
The Begonia is grown in a wide range of country and conditions but are native plant to subtropical/tropical places such as central to South America, Aisa and Africa.
